Another Oath Keeper Goes Dark

Silent Circle was a company created in part by Phil Zimmerman the creator of the most trusted email encryption system PGP.  They created a new company called Silent Circle, and they closed Silent Circle Email system down last week.

“However, we have reconsidered this position. We’ve been thinking about this for some time, whether it was a good idea at all. Yesterday, another secure email provider, Lavabit, shut down their system less they “be complicit in crimes against the American people.” We see the writing on the wall, and we have decided that it is best for us to shut down Silent Mail. We have not received subpoenas, warrants, security letters, or anything else by any government, and this is why we are acting now.”

They built Silent Circle to “server – centric” way.  Which means all of your meta-data is on their servers.  The better way to create a more secure system is “peer-to-peer” you actually don’t even know who is using your technology and nothing is stored on their server.  Silent Circle said they burned it down before they were asked by the NSA to turn over the data.

Another company goes Galt.  But hey Hushmail and Tor are still online, and all types of companies are offering your “cloud storage” of all of your data for little cost.  What does that tell you?  The below video is long it is an entire interview, but it is interesting if you have the time.
