“…realistic level of job destruction…”

23-bathrooms. You need to live with less

We have to be careful about people from the homesteaders, farmers, survivalist and preppers community  “talking their book.” As our financial consultant Sierra-5 explained in last week’s podcast, this phrase comes from the financial sector, and it means you must be careful when dealing with an investment advisor they will “talk” or promote the stocks they have under management. They will “talk their book.” This concept has general applicability. When you talk to a person who has made a significant investment, and / or sacrifice in moving to a more self-sufficient lifestyle and ask them is it a “good” choice. They will often “talk their book.” For myself, I am always looking at people who are outside the community especially when they say “having a more self-sufficient lifestyle may be very important.”1415402623824_wps_4_At_195_million_Beverly_Hi

There is this Democrat billionaire Jeff Greene. He made his wealth by betting against you being able to pay your mortgage. Many of us didn’t pay our mortgage, and he got very wealthy. Anyway Jeff Greene was flying with the rest of his corporate crony buddies to Davos Switzerland for the annual world economic forum. At the forum, he was interviewed by Bloomberg magazine. During that interview, he said the following.

“America’s lifestyle expectations are far too high and need to be adjusted so we have less things and a smaller, better existence,” Greene said in an interview today at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “We need to reinvent our whole system of life.”

He then followed up with this “I’m remarkably long for my level of pessimism,” he said. “Our economy is in deep trouble. We need to be honest with ourselves. We’ve had a realistic level of job destruction, and those jobs aren’t coming back.” “My greatest worry for our country is that globalization and the exponential growth of technology which have destroyed millions of jobs already, will undoubtedly eliminate millions and millions more jobs during the next several years,” he said. “Many manufacturing jobs that we lost will come back to the U.S., but most will be filled by robots and software.”

I love the phrase “…realistic level of job destruction.” Let that phrase roll around in your head for a minute. Jeff Greene thinks the United States is facing a job crisis that is going to lead to social unrest. He believes the answer for that is for you, apparently not so much him, but you to “reinvent (your) whole system of life” and that “America’s lifestyle expectations are far too high and need to be adjusted so we have less things and a smaller, better existence.” Now most people went on to make the point that it sounds incredibly hypocritical for a guy with the most expensive house in the US, among his four other multi-million dollar mansions, and someone who has two kids and a wife but somehow needs two nannies and they all flew on their private jet to Switzerland to tell the world they will need to deal with less. However, I don’t want to go down that well-traveled road mostly because I think he is right.

I also believe we are headed for an economic situation that will clearly change “America’s lifestyle expectations….” There appear to be two ways being prepared for American’s who are asleep as usual. One is The Hive as I call it. Where compliant humans are packed into massive high-density Agenda 21 approved units fed designer food, government and corporate improved water and unlimited pharmaceuticals. This model is built on creating a dependent society with high frequency consumer events (rent, utilities, restaurants, grocery stores, throw away consumer items, debit-based, etc.) where middlemen have every opportunity to make money. There are many, many parties interested in pushing American’s toward that model. There is a different option. That option is only being pursued by a few aware people because it is built upon less consumer activity, (energy partially generated on your property, food partially produced on your land, a simpler lifestyle, ownership based, etc.) And that group are people who want to live a more rural self-sufficient life, for various reasons including escaping the social unrest that Jeff Greene anticipates.ECONOMY-CAPITOLISM

Now mate Jeff’s “recommendation” to you with the fact that many billionaires are also buying retreat properties outside of the United States and things get a little more interesting. They are worried about “radical” political trends in the U.S.  They mean pure socialism / French revolution style hang the bankers.  Others of us, mean something different.  I like that term also “radical political trends.”   I love it like this;  “…radical political reactions are often a reaction to realistic job destruction.”  For us to be able to afford a more self-sufficient lifestyle we need to make a bet of our own.  We need to make a move before the vast majority wake up and bid up the price of farmland beyond our reach.   We are making a bet, and our bet is eventually this thing will not be able to sustain itself in our lifetimes.  Jeff Greene, Davos hobnobbing billionaire, suggest you plan on living a more self-sufficient lifestyle or accept The Hive.  I suggest you make that decision sooner than later.
